about indiequick/dustin shey

About this guy:

Seriously, this is where you came first. To find out more about who the hell I am. Cause that’s what we do on the internet. We follow peoples lives. Cause sometimes, it’s damn interesting. Sometimes not. I’m neither.

Simply, these are things I want to say to the world. That’s all. I may be right, or I may be wrong – but I’m still entitled to my opinions – are you’re entitled to yours. We musn’t start wars over these things. Let’s get together and come up with solutions, not more problems.

And that’s where I’m at. I’m by all means enchanted with all that life has to offer. I know that I’m extremely lucky to be in the situation I’m in. I also know that if we, as people don’t start giving our precious little earth a hug – instead of a beating – we can enable further generations to be as enchanted as we are with life.

Oh, my name is dustin s. mitchell. tweet me, or whatever.

Artist: Blind Pilot

Blind Pilot “Go On, Say It” from Team G on Vimeo.

This is Blind Pilot. And this is a rad music video from Team G, a ‘massively inclusive’ video collective made up of folks from LA, NYC and KC… that’s Kansas City for the newbie.

Anyways, I saw these cats at Outside Lands Music Festival in 2009. I was front row, and they sang so sweet. Found out they did a West Coast tour, on their bikes. Find out more about THAT.

Download the free Blind Pilot Daytrotter session.
Watch the video and go pick up the Blind Pilot EP if you haven’t already.
Also, you can  follow them on twitter.

Artist: Greg Laswell

Disclaimer: Greg Laswell is a buddy of mine. We just so happened to go to the same college, start somewhat of a ‘business’ together, and I’ve recorded music with him. One night, we should’ve gone to jail (for reasons I can’t put out in a public forum).

Anyways, he recently put out an extremely ballsy record, the Covers EP. Just trust me on this one, it’s an extremely beautiful record, with 6 beautiful songs. Including the above Kate Bush cover – This Woman’s Work.

Follow him on Twitter. Visit his Myspace.

Free: Pomplamoose

This is Pomplamoose. They’re from the Bay Area (corte madera, actually). And I am in absolute love with what they are doing. A guy and a girl get together, make fun YouTube videos (covers & originals) in order to promote their own music.

They’ve got free tunes, all of them being covers. But within mere minutes of browsing their youtube channel, I was off to iTunes, buying everything I could get my hands on. You will too, after you download Pomplamooses free covers. It’s 8 songs, what are you still doing here?

Follow them on twitter.

Album: Free: Home Video EP

HomeVideoep1

Damnit Brooklyn, you keep putting out all these damn good artists that I like. You’ve got rap, hip-hop, electronica, and whatever the else you want. When are we on the West Coast going to keep up with you?

Disclaimer: If you’re uber-Thom Yorke fan, don’t get this, seriously. All you’ll do is compare the vocals to Thom. It’s just a waste of your time. If you’re open for some free songs though, and need something to lighten your day, go for it.

Free: Warm Heart of Africa

You know that band Vampire Weekend that kicked ass? Well, lead singer Ezra Koenig sang on one of these songs put out by Green Owl Records – and the band = Warm Heart of Africa. In a brilliant scheme to get the full $8.99 out of you for their record, they’re giving you 5 songs out of the 14 for nothing in good faith.

Disclaimer: Don’t get this album if you never wanted to go to Africa. Remember all that cool african music from Lion King? Yeah, it’s like that, but – better

Shows: Bon Iver – Fillmore, SF

While I have a million things to say about Bon Iver live, I’m gonna keep this short. Sell everything you own to go see this man. He will entertain you to tears. I promise. Best show I’ve ever been to.

Free: Jay-Z meets Radiohead

You like your hip hop. You also like your post-grunge movement music from across the pond. (that’s the UK). So now you take those two, you add a little beer, a little whiskey, and you get a bunch of little Thom-Z’s running around.

If you don’t understand yet, it’s Jay-Z rapping over Radiohead. Click on the album cover already. Thank me later.
